How it works
Preliminary Planning
A few things happen in this phase:
A discussion about desired aesthetic, functional requirements, and preferences
All required dimensions are acquired
Layouts are determined
For those still on the fence about their remodel, we offer a “Design Study” option - this is an abbreviated version of the above steps, in that we work with basic measurements as opposed to having the whole home and all its components dimensioned prior to drawing up layout options. This isn’t a fully realized plan, but it’s enough to give you an idea of what’s possible as well as a general idea of construction cost. This will allow you to make an informed decision on whether you want to move forward with renovations.
Design Phase
In this phase we go deeper into detail with our design. The goal here is to get a solid plan in place, along with a general idea of fixture cost in order to get permits and accurate bids from contractors. While they put their bids together, we firm up our decisions through 3D renderings and Room Boards. We also start filling in the schedules in with our choices or at least have budget amounts for items needed.
Don’t be tempted to rush this phase; We have rescued enough projects to know that the fastest total timeline starts with a fleshed out plan, because anything that’s not in the plan is not included in your contract with the builder, which could lead to delays, do overs, and costly change orders.
We have found that BFD pays for itself by saving time and money with a well thought out plan.
Build Phase
Time to hand off our build package to the general contractor for purchasing and implementation, but we are only a call or email away when you need us. We can continue to work with you as needed by you on timelines, problems that pop up, and making sure everyone is on the same page.
